Brooke A. Vacca - Image Styling
About Brooke

Fashion Background:
While growing up in a small town in Rhode Island I had found a love for shopping and fashion related activities such as drawing fashion figures by portraying designs on paper and participating in a few pageants. As I grew older eventually I decided to pursue a career in the fashion industry beginning with Visual Merchandising in retail stores. I ended up going to college to get more in depth to the fashion industry and began at Johnson and Wales University where I received an A.S. in Fashion Merchandising in 2000. I decided to move to New York and continue my education at the Fashion Institute of Technology where I studied for a more creative background and graduated in 2003 with a B.F.A. in Fabric Styling. While I had progressed with my schooling I participated in an internship with Fairchild Publications in the Women’s Wear Daily Fashion Editorial department. There is where I assisted on many Editorial photo shoots, working with the editors choosing clothing and accessories, dressing models, and dealing with fashion showrooms. I also participated in another internship at Victoria’s Secret Design Studio in the Fabric and Textiles department where I learned about the design process. I later continued on to work with Eleni Lambros Couture who specialized in Bridal Wear. Along with Eleni I helped out on photo shoots and prepped her models for market week where her designs were seen by many fashion editors of well known publications. I also gained experience in working during Fashion Week with the Ground Crew, dressing models backstage in a hectic fast paced environment.

In 2004 I had started participating more on advertising photo shoots which is the most significant work I have done as a Wardrobe Stylist. Since working mostly in the advertising area the clothing is gathered by shopping various stores, not showrooms. On these shoots I have been fortunate enough to work with celebrities such as Vivica A. Fox, Julianne Moore, Paul Shaffer Corey Feldman and Shiboni Joshi (of the Fox Business Network). Also the "Don't Be an Asterisk" Anti-Steroids Public Awareness Campaign I styled was lucky enough to win the Ad Council's 2008 Silver Bell Award for Creative Excellence. All of my experience has given me the expertise to help others with finding just the right look for the right occasion or to spruce up your look!

Personal Training Background:
I grew up being a very active child as a dancer. Since I was 3 years old I participated in classes such as ballet and later tap, jazz, street dance, funk and hip hop. Exercise was never stressed as an importance over the years and it wasn’t until after college I joined my first gym. At first the thought of working out was terrible but as soon as I had a personal trainer it became interesting and exciting. After completing my sessions I found it difficult to push myself since I had only been interested in building leg strength and getting a nice set of abs. However, putting myself on a regimen helped get me into the gym. About a year after I started working out I was involved in a car accident where I had gotten injuries to my lower back, neck and wrist. I went through physical therapy which then made me realize how important it was to build full body strength to prevent any other injuries, keep the injured areas strong and pain free. After I was cleared to workout regularly that is when I got into strength training where I would exercise 4-5 times a week teaching myself different exercises to achieve the goals I had set. I would often find myself getting more knowledgeable through the advice of other trainers, bodybuilders and fitness professionals and then finally I fell into becoming a Personal Trainer after a couple of these individuals pushed me in the right direction. After receiving my certification with the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) I became employed as a trainer at Bally Total Fitness and then later moved on to New York Health and Racquet Club in NYC which is where I currently train.

With both the expertise in fashion and fitness I decided to take the two ideas and make them one. The unique blend of these very specific areas makes up the term Image Styling. Since there is a need for health, exercise and both image through fashion and fitness, I built upon these ideas to create a business that will reach out to the needs of the public.
